Uptown Dallas is
directly north ("up") and north east of downtown. The
neighborhood's latest growth began in the 1990's
with apartment developers being granted the rights
to build in the Uptown district. Run down,
older areas were replaced with new, shining residences,
promoting growth. From this point, the trendy Uptown
Dallas truly has grown into what is
perhaps the most desirable area in Dallas
for professionals.
Mckinney Avenue is
the main street that defines Uptown
Dallas . A trolley runs
through Mckinney
Avenueand connects to downtown, which
is also connected via the DART system. Mckinney
Avenue is replete with hundreds of
chic shops and restaurants, many with patio dining, to
give an almost European feel. Typically, the
closer an apartment is to Mckinney Avenue , the more
desirable the apartment is.
Areas of Uptown that are
either directly connected to McKinney Avenue
or close by include: | |

West
Village - Currently
perhaps the hottest area of Uptown is
West Village. The West
Village area has delightful shops and
restaurants within a new and modern shopping center. The
shopping is trendy and delightful, and it just seems like
there is no "bad" store there. Ann Taylor Loft, the Paul
Frank store, Tommy Bahama, and The Yap are just some of the
eclectic choices here. Several restaurants (such as Cru,
Mi Cocina, Tom Tom's Asian Cuisine, etc.) to choose
from. And, even catch a movie at the Magnolia
Theater. There are many wonderful apartments in
and near by this amazing center! West
Village is waiting for you! |

State
Thomas - The State
Thomas area is an area bordering
West
Village and Mckinney
Avenue . It is a beautiful area full
of sidewalks with brick pavings, trees, parks and breeze
filled streets to stroll, designed to resemble the Brownstones
of Boston. This is a very pet friendly area, with a park
nearby. The area also contains restaurants and shops to
walk to, and is within 2 blocks of both West Village and
McKinney Avenue . It is the preferred
place to live for many Uptown residents, due
to the many townhomes and sleek yet relaxed feel. |

Oak
Lawn / Turtle
Creek - Oak
Lawn is an area that is basically centered
around Cedar Springs Avenue .
Oak Lawn is a wealthier section of Dallas,
filled with unique shops, restaurants and nightclubs (and
often very trendy ones). Turtle Creek
is a particularly affluent area of Oak
Lawn that runs alongside Turtle
Creek. Turtle Creek
is also known for an eclectic mix of single family homes and
condos and apartments. |
